Dutch photographer Marie Cecile Thijs (1964) specializes in portraiture. In her photographs she strives for intensity and illusion. She mingles contemporary style with classical aesthetics.
Marie Cecile Thijs initially had a career as a lawyer, but more than fifteen years ago she rediscovered her earlier love for the camera, and decided to become a photographer. Since then, she has achieved recognition for her photoseries 'Human Angels' and 'Legal Practitioners'. She is also known for her portraits of many politicians, artists and writers. 'White Collar' is her newest autonomous photo project, which she started in 2010.
Her photography is regularly published and acquired by art collectors and corporations, and she exhibits frequently in Amsterdam and throughout Europe, and recently in the USA. In the Netherlands, her work is represented by Eduard Planting Fine Art Photographs, and she is alligned with photo agency Hollandse Hoogte. In conjunction with her life as a photographer, she is a teacher at the Photo Academy (Fotoacademie).
