Paris Photo 2022 Online Viewing Room

In honor of Paris Photo 2022 SmithDavidson Gallery presents the online viewing room with the work of Marie Cecile Thijs and Francesco Bosso. SmithDavidson Gallery will join Paris Photo this year digitally.

Through digital photography Marie Cecile Thijs paints a parallel world, where our planet has been transformed into a green sphere beyond the grasp of human intervention. These works constitutes a clear new direction, working towards more abstract images and experimenting with new techniques including moving images.

With her work Marie Cecile Thijs wants to examine what the world would look like when the human influence on nature no longer exists: What would happen if mother nature had free reigns and evolution was no longer limited by human civilisation? ‘Green Scenes’ is in part inspired by the current debate on climate change as the human awareness about its increasing footprint on the world around us grows and the balance between science and nature becomes disrupted. It is also captures the surrealist world Marie Cecile Thijs creates throughout her oeuvre.
